Pink, Pink Everywhere!

Unless you are living under a rock, you already know it’s breast cancer awareness month.  Everywhere you turn there is pink merchandise.  Pink socks, pink blenders, pink sweatshirts, pink hats.

Part of me is happy to see all the awareness.  If it helps just one person get diagnosed early enough to save a life, then it’s worth it.  But part of me is tired of all the pink, tired of seeing corporate America prospering over this horrible disease (I think it’s safe to say that not all the breast cancer merchandise out there is being sold 100% for charity).

For me, breast cancer awareness happens every month…I am very aware of it, thank you very much.  Even my driver’s license is a picture of me in my wig because it happened to expire before my hair grew back.  The picture haunts me every time I see it…I really need to fix that.

But my hope with all this pink is that people just realize this disease is out there and that it reminds everyone to take care of their bodies.

Do your self breast exams.

Don’t ignore something that doesn’t feel right.

Reduce your risks.

Eat as healthy as you can and work towards a fit body.

We only get one body, so let’s take care of it.

For breast cancer awareness month, everyone be aware of your breasts, this month and every month.  My hubby has a t-shirt that says, “Save a life, grope your wife.”  A bit crass, but point taken.  And that’s all I’m going to say about that.
